About this role
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for keeping the district's buses and vehicles in a state of operating excellence so that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational process. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain a State of Missouri MVI License
• Possess and maintain a Missouri Class-B CDL with passenger & school bus endorsements.
• Diagnose repair needs on the bus fleet and perform required repairs in a timely manner.
• Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on district buses, vehicles.
• Repair buses according to industry and safety standards.
• Reports any areas of concern pertaining to the safe operation of buses to the Transportation Director.
• Drive a regular route or activity when called upon.
• Adhere to district shop safety guidelines and demonstrate good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.
• Attends monthly in-service training to improve skills, attitudes and knowledge of school bus driving and student management.
• Mechanics must have CDL & School District ID while on duty.
• Demonstrates good human relations and communications skills.
• Must be able to work independently and under pressure.
• Must be able to lift at least 80lbs on a regular basis
• Submits to all required D.O.T. random drug and alcohol screenings.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Hold valid Missouri Driver's License
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must complete the requirements to obtain a Missouri Class-B CDL with Passenger & School Bus Endorsements.
• Must have a clean driving record with no more than 1 moving violation within the previous 36 months.
• Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Including the ability to lift 110lbs.
• Must have a background in hydraulic brakes, diesel and gas engines, automatic transmissions and ABS systems.
• Successfully complete the training program provided by the district.
• Successful completion of D.O.T. Pre-employment Physical & Drug Screening.
