About this role

Salary: £40,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements: Significant, demonstrable experience in database migration, delivering migrations at scale across multiple clients or systems and understanding the full lifecycle in depth.Expert-level SQL proficiency, with strong T-SQL skills and hands-on experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).Proven ability to read, reverse-engineer, and write migration scripts independently, including for source systems not previously encountered.Experience working with a wide variety of ATS, CRM, or similar database-driven source systems.Deep understanding of ETL processes, data transformation logic, and data mapping between complex schemas.Experience with database mounting, backup and restore procedures, and multi-environment setups.Strong grasp of data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance techniques.Familiarity with migration tooling and the ability to contribute to tool development and enhancement.Proven ability to work with unfamiliar systems and source formats, independently discovering and documenting data structures.Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, comfortable identifying root causes in complex data issues without a defined playbook.Ability to shift between multiple concurrent migration projects with varying complexity, urgency, and technical requirements.Resilient and solution-focused when facing ambiguity, incomplete documentation, or unexpected data anomalies.Proactive approach to raising issues, proposing fixes, and following through on resolutions.Confident communicating technical findings to both technical colleagues and non-technical stakeholders.Experience producing clear technical documentation, post-mortem reports, and migration run-books.Comfortable working collaboratively within a team and sharing knowledge to raise team capability.Able to manage client-facing interactions professionally during post-live support phases.Experience with Python and/or C# for scripting, automation, or tool development is desirable.Familiarity with Tracker RMS or similar recruitment database platforms is desirable.Experience working in a SaaS or software business environment is desirable.Knowledge of API integration and data synchronisation approaches is desirable. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and optimise migration scripts to extract, transform, and load data between source systems and Tracker RMS.Support the transition to our newly built in-house migration tool by testing, adapting existing scripts, and helping shape how the tool is used in practice.Work across a broad range of source platforms, adapting our approach to the nuances of each.Review and improve existing scripts to improve performance, accuracy, and maintainability.Develop new scripts for previously unseen or undocumented source systems, independently working through data structures and writing migration logic from scratch.Execute and manage migrations across multiple environments, ensuring data integrity at every stage.Mount and validate initial data versions to new environments, performing pre- and post-migration health checks.Manage rollback procedures and contingency planning to minimise client risk during go-live.Coordinate parallel running environments where required and ensure seamless handoff between stages.Perform detailed data mapping and transformation analysis between source and target schemas.Validate data completeness, accuracy, and integrity throughout the migration lifecycle.Identify and resolve data quality issues, discrepancies, and edge cases before and after migration.Apply data reconciliation and verification techniques to confirm migration success.Provide responsive post-go-live support to resolve issues arising after client migrations.Conduct thorough post-mortem analysis on completed migrations, identifying root causes and producing recommendations to prevent recurrence.Support clients during their transition period, applying targeted fixes and ensuring database stability on the live server.Document findings and feed lessons learned back into team processes and script libraries.Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal migration tooling.Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and gaps in existing migration processes and propose practical improvements.Maintain and expand our repository of migration scripts, ensuring quality, consistency, and reusability.Bring fresh perspectives to established processes and actively challenge approaches that could be improved.Contribute to wider data support duties across the team, including supporting colleagues during periods of high demand, assisting with escalated data queries, and helping maintain overall data quality and service levels.
