About the role

The University of Plymouth is seeking to appoint two Lecturers in Architecture to join a dynamic and ambitious architecture team within the School of Art, Design and Architecture.

We are looking for an outstanding educator with expertise in digital design, computational methods and emerging technologies, and a passion for helping students critically engage with the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of architectural practice.

You will contribute across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through design studio teaching, curriculum development, assessment and academic support. Working within a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, you will help students explore how computational design, artificial intelligence, digital fabrication, advanced representation and emerging forms of design practice can inform innovative, responsible and critically engaged architectural propositions.

As the School continues to strengthen its Architecture provision and develop new opportunities in Interior Architecture, you will contribute to a forward-looking educational environment committed to creative experimentation, technological innovation and design excellence. Additonally, you will:

Deliver high-quality design studio teaching, tutorials and assessment across Architecture programmes. Support students in the application of digital tools, computational methods and emerging technologies within architectural design. Contribute to curriculum development, module leadership and enhancement activities. Encourage innovative approaches to architectural representation, design communication and design research. Engage in scholarly, professional or knowledge-exchange activity that strengthens teaching and maintains contemporary relevance.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking an architectural educator who can demonstrate:

A degree and/or professional qualification in Architecture and a strong understanding of contemporary architectural education and practice. Experience of studio teaching, design tutoring and assessment within architecture or closely related design disciplines. Expertise in digital design, computational design, advanced representation, AI-enabled design processes, digital fabrication, BIM and emerging forms of architectural practice. The ability to integrate creative, technical and critical approaches within design-led teaching and learning. Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, together with a commitment to inclusive and student-centred education.

We are particularly interested in candidates who combine contemporary digital expertise with a critical understanding of how technology is transforming architectural design, communication and professional practice. Professional practice, design research and interdisciplinary collaboration are welcomed, but excellence in teaching and architectural pedagogy will be central to success in this role.
