About this role

Hours of work: Full-time

Tenure: Fixed term for 48 months

You will play a central role in supporting and advancing the work of the Environmental Radioactivity Research Centre (ERRC), delivering world-leading research in radiometric dating and environmental radioactivity.

This post combines laboratory leadership applied radiometric analysis, and independent research. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Environmental Radiometric Laboratory (ERL), with a particular focus on high-resolution gamma-ray spectrometry using High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detector systems.

You will lead the measurement and analysis of environmental radionuclides, ensuring high standards of calibration, spectral interpretation, and data quality.

You should have a (or be about to obtain) PhD in Physics, Environmental Science, Nuclear Science or related field.

If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
