About this role

The University of Wolverhampton is seeking an experienced and academically credible Academic Lead – English Language Support (China) to provide academic leadership for English language provision supporting Transnational Education (TNE) programmes in Mainland China.

Based within the Global Opportunities Office, you will lead the academic governance of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and Pre-sessional English provision, ensuring alignment with university regulations, CEFR standards, IELTS equivalency frameworks, and quality assurance requirements.

You will oversee curriculum development, assessment design, moderation, progression decisions, tutor approval, and academic quality processes across partner institutions. Working closely with university colleagues and Chinese partners, you will help develop and enhance scalable English language pathways that support student success and progression.

Applicants should hold a postgraduate qualification in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English Language Teaching, or a related discipline, together with a recognised professional qualification such as DELTA, MA TESOL, or equivalent. Significant experience of EAP and/or Pre-sessional English provision within UK higher education is essential, alongside expertise in curriculum design, language assessment, academic standards, and quality assurance. Experience within TNE or international partnership environments is highly desirable.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the University’s growing international portfolio and shape English language provision across key partnerships in China. Periodic travel to China will be required, primarily between June and October.
