About this role

Job summary

The post holder will be expected to:

Demonstrate expertise in echocardiography ensuring that the service model provides demonstrably high quality patient care within financial and clinical targets

Demonstrate working knowledge of the full range of investigations carried out by the NAC.

Participate in joint lead role in the organisation of the department, provide support and carry out organisational and supervisory duties

Take a lead role in the maintenance of standards and quality in service development NAC team including active involvement in the training of related staff, whist maintaining and developing their own professionalism and expert skills and knowledge.

Demonstrate a professional approach to patient care, and be able to communicate with patients clearly.

Effectively communicate within the department and other departments throughout the Trust

Main duties of the job

Work in our busy NAC department alongside the existing team toperform & report transthoracic echoardiograms independently tostandards outlined by the British Society of Echocardiography.? Assist with CPEX and Stress Echo procedures? Demonstrate expertise in the performance of a range of specialistinvestigations carried out the NAC.? Interpret technical information & data from investigations andprepare reports? Recognise the significance of investigation findings/diagnoses andact on these accordingly.? Be trained and accredited under the auspices of the ResuscitationCouncil (UK) and to partake in providing basic life support anddefibrillation as and when necessary.? Demonstrate a professional approach to patient care, and be ableto communicate with patients clearly.

Personal Qualities & atributes Essential

Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines and organise own work

Education & professional Qualifications Essential

Degree in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or degree level equivalent education plus extensive experience BSE echocardiography Evidence of ongoing professional development BLS plus defibrillator certification

Desirable

RCCP registration

Experience Essential

Significant experience as independent echocardiographer

Desirable

Working knowledge of other cardiology investigations carried out in the CIU

Skills and aptitudes Essential

High level of clinical and technical expertise in routine echocardiography

Experience in recruitment Experience in performing appraisals Experience in creating departmental policies & procedures
