About this role

Job summary

To support and guide staff on adult protection cases and work in partnership with all agencies providing safeguarding to vulnerable adults.

Promote personalised and safe care as part of a prevention strategy.

Promote effective responses when harm is detected. Use learning to improve prevention and protection.

Empower patients to be heard and support informed consent, supporting the implementation of the Mental Capacity and Equality Act and Deprivation of Liberty across the Trust

Main duties of the job

o To provide training to frontline health professionals in relation to Adult Protection, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, promoting good practice and ensure that staff are aware of their responsibilities in Safeguarding Adults in all settings.

o To provide specialist advice and support to staff members with Mental Capacity assessments and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

o To support and advise staff on issues related to Safeguarding Adults, with occasional attendance at strategy meetings and case conferences.

o Facilitating safeguarding supervision following safeguarding incidents .

o Ensure that vulnerable adults and their relatives/carers are involved in decisions affecting their care and wellbeing and in service development. When relatives or carers are absent, ensure that advocacy is engaged in a timely manner.

o Undertake delivery of safeguarding training

Person Specification

Clinical Skills & Experience Essential

Minimum 5 years post registration experience At least 3 years Band 6 experience in a leadership role. Demonstrate the ability to be a strong advocate for the welfare, protection and rights of adults at risk. Clear safeguarding experience, with a highly developed specialist knowledge of the subject area Able to communicate complex information effectively across disciplines and agencies Able to question and analyse information and to make sound judgements often under pressure in difficult circumstances Able to deliver training to large groups and to communicate this knowledge effectively Evidence of good communication skills, written, verbal and presentation Resolving user concerns effectively Ability to provide specialist advice and support to staff members with Mental Capacity assessments and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Experience in completing s42 investigations Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding adults as per the Care Act 2014 Demonstrable understanding of Making Safeguarding Personal Ability to deal with change and confrontation
