Main duties of the job As a SCPHN School Nurse, you will join our School-Age Health & Wellbeing Service, improving the health, wellbeing, and life of children across Warwickshire. This role involves delivering public health support to children and families via preventative, early interventions. Working in schools and community settings, you will guide children towards positive lifestyle choices and necessary support. You will be a valued member of our Public Health Nursing team collaborating with schools and healthcare professionals to reduce health disparities and enhance outcomes for vulnerable children. You will also nurture the growth of School Staff Nurses and Support Staff, participating in their development and that of the service. You will assess health needs, identify risks and provide evidence-based interventions that support physical, emotional and social wellbeing. Working collaboratively with schools, families and partner organisations, you will identify children and young people who require additional support and ensure timely interventions are implemented. Safeguarding will be a key aspect of the role and you will work confidently with vulnerable children, young people and families to reduce risk and improve outcomes. You will also provide day-to-day support and supervision to School Staff Nurses and Support Staff, helping to coordinate workloads, develop professional practice and maintain high standards of care. Alongside this, you will contribute to health needs assessments, school health initiatives, community drop-ins and targeted support programmes that address the needs of local children and young people. Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration. Specialist Practitioner Qualification in School and Community Public Health Nursing (degree, diploma or certificate level). Experience working with children, young people and families. Strong understanding of public health principles and health promotion. Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
