Aspen Medical Practice is looking to appoint two enthusiastic and experienced clinicians to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team. Each position may be filled by either a Paramedic Practitioner or a Nurse Practitioner.
We are particularly keen to hear from clinicians who value teamwork, are committed to safe and compassionate patient care, and are willing to continue expanding their clinical skills and the range of patients and conditions they are able to assess and manage.

Main duties of the job
These are varied and rewarding roles for clinicians who are passionate about providing safe, compassionate and patient-centred care within general practice.
Applicants must have completed a minor illness course and a prescribing course. They must be confident working autonomously within their professional competence while recognising when to seek advice or clinical support.
The successful candidates must be prepared to work in minor illness clinics and undertake home visits as the practices visiting clinician, with GP support available. They must also be able to work one enhanced access session each week, although the day can be agreed flexibly.
You will work alongside our established team of Paramedic Practitioners, GPs and wider multidisciplinary team. Your role will include assessing and managing patients presenting with a broad range of minor illnesses, as well as undertaking home visits as the practices visiting clinician, with GP support available when required.
We are keen to support the successful candidates in continuing to develop their clinical knowledge, confidence and scope of practice.

We are a large, well-established GP practice caring for approximately 32,000 patients across Gloucester. Since forming through the merger of four practices in 2018, we have grown into a single multidisciplinary team of around 150 colleagues, working together to provide high-quality care for our patients and their families.
You will be joining a highly skilled and collaborative multidisciplinary team that includes GPs, nurses, Paramedic Practitioners, clinical pharmacists, frailty specialists, results nurses, a mental health nurse, social prescribers, trainees and experienced administrative colleagues.

Job description Job responsibilities
To provide safe, effective and compassionate clinical care to patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions across Aspen Medical Practice and its branches. Working autonomously within their professional competence, the Nurse Practitioner or Paramedic Practitioner will undertake clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing where appropriately qualified, referral, safety-netting and evaluation of care.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to meet patients needs and contribute to clinical governance, service improvement, patient education and the delivery of practice policies and procedures.
The post holder will:
Provide autonomous clinical consultations for patients with acute, chronic, complex and undifferentiated conditions. Take comprehensive clinical histories and undertake appropriate physical and psychological assessments. Formulate differential diagnoses and agree evidence-based treatment and management plans with patients. Request, interpret and act upon investigations within their competence and scope of practice. Prescribe and review medicines where appropriately qualified, in accordance with national guidance, local formularies and practice protocols. Refer or signpost patients to other services and healthcare professionals where appropriate. Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations. Provide health promotion, disease prevention, self-care and lifestyle advice. Maintain accurate, complete and contemporaneous clinical records. Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, carers, colleagues and external organisations. Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns involving children and adults at risk. Participate in clinical governance, audit, incident review, complaints learning and quality-improvement activity. Work within professional standards, legislation, practice policies and the requirements of the appropriate professional regulator.
