Job summary
The Royal Brompton Hospital invites applications for a dedicated Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) Fellowship within its internationally recognised Structural Heart Programme. This advanced clinical fellowship offers high-volume exposure to contemporary TAVI practice, with a strong emphasis on procedural proficiency, multimodality imaging, comprehensive patient care, and academic output.
The fellowship is designed for senior cardiology trainees or post-CCT interventional cardiologists seeking subspecialty expertise in transcatheter valve interventions.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will gain comprehensive experience in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), including participation in dedicated catheter laboratory lists and progressive involvement in TAVI procedures, pre-procedural planning, valve assessment, device selection, access management, imaging interpretation, and management of complex structural heart cases.
The role will involve supporting the assessment and care of patients throughout the TAVI pathway, including multidisciplinary Heart Team meetings, structural heart clinics, informed consent, inpatient post-procedure management, complication assessment, echocardiographic review and follow-up clinics.
The post holder will also contribute to the Structural Heart research programme through involvement in clinical studies, registries, and academic outputs, with opportunities to present at conferences and contribute to publications. There will be opportunities to support teaching and education for healthcare professionals and participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.

The post holder will work as part of the Structural Heart team, gaining specialist experience in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and the wider management of patients with structural heart disease. The role includes participation in TAVI catheter laboratory activity, pre-procedural assessment, multidisciplinary Heart Team discussions, procedural planning, and involvement in the delivery of high-quality patient-centred care throughout the TAVI pathway.
The post holder will contribute to the assessment, treatment, and follow-up of patients undergoing TAVI, including structural heart clinics, inpatient care, post-procedural review, and management of complications. The role also includes opportunities to participate in research activity, clinical audits, teaching and professional development within structural heart disease and interventional cardiology.
