Job summary
Rainbow ward are seeking an enthusiastic Paediatric nurse to join their busy acute Paediatric ward working within Wrightington Wigan and Leigh. We are keen to recruit an experienced nurse who is looking to develop their professional leadership and clinical skills within acute paediatrics.

We operate a 24-hour, 7 day a week shift pattern this will include weekends and nights on a rotational basis.

Main duties of the job
As a band 6 Paediatric nurse on Rainbow ward you will form part of an established nursing team, you will act as a senior, positive role model for your colleagues, demonstrate clinical competence and effective leadership skills. You will be responsible for coordinating shifts, allocating duties to junior staff members and ensuring patient safety is prioritised by communicating effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team. The nurse is required to deputise for the senior sister, ensuring that clinical standards are maintained and that trust policies and procedures are adhered to. You will need to be confident or willing to learn how to solve problems, make decisions and escalate concerns appropriately.
You will deliver individualised, holistic care to a diverse population, acknowledging the needs of the patient and family. You must be skilled in communication so that you are able to fulfil this requirement effectively. As a band 6 you will be required to utilise your assessment skills to assess, monitor and prioritise patient care. Working with the medical team you will ensure patients receive the care they need in an appropriate time scale. Children may have urgent critical care needs that require prompt action, you should be confident to respond to these situations and support the team.

Qualifications Essential
RSCN / RN child branch ENB 998 or eqivilant HDU Qualifaction

Degree in child health or working towards Leadership / Management qualification
Experience Essential
Minimum 5 years' experience as a band 5 staff nurse within a child health setting Ability to work as a member of a team or independently Demonstrate ability as expert role model
