Job summary
We are looking to recruit a whole time Consultant Rehabilitation Medicine to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Northern General Hospital delivering outpatient clinics and inpatient care.
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.

Main duties of the job
Appointments are made to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the person appointed is required to be sufficiently flexible to undertake their main clinical duties at any of the sites within the Region and/or to change their base hospital.
The appointee, together with consultant colleagues, will be responsible for the provision of neurorehabilitation services to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
The appointee will be expected to contribute to the outpatient neurorehabilitation and transition clinics in Sheffield.
The person appointed will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence. They will have continuing responsibility for patients in their care and the proper functioning of the Department.
The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Full registration with a license to practice with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview. Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview. MRCP or Equivalent Holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. If not UK trained they must have obtained CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) in rehabilitation medicine Substantial experience in Rehabilitation Medicine preferably with neurological rehabilitation as a major component, or equivalent.

MD or PhD or equivalent Experience in procedural skills and management of adults with complex neurological disabilities
Clinical experience Essential
Ability to work as an independent practitioner in Rehabilitation medicine. Capable of providing comprehensive care to patient with brain injury
Desirable
Possess broad clinical experience in the field of specialized rehabilitation Experience of working in trauma settings/ with neurosurgical teams managing acute head injury Expertise in managing spasticity
Research Essential
Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate

Publications in Peer reviewed journals; GCP training.

Experience of teaching student doctors and doctors in training at all levels
