About this role

Job summary

The post holder will join a dedicated 6-member Gynae oncology fellow team to provide middle-grade clinical cover for inpatient care for patients in the ward or High Dependency Unit / Intensive Therapy Unit, and also take part in outpatient clinics (joint oncology, colposcopy and pre-operative), Gynaecology MDT Clinics, Vulval, Colposcopy clinics, Gynaecological oncology theatres. They are also required to take part in the Gyn Oncology middle-grade on-call rota (not during normal working hours, non-resident cover, 1 in 6), with an occasional requirement (based on career stage) to cover the general gynaecology on-call rota. The department has hosted research fellows, including Out of Programme for Research (OOPR) and Out of Programme for Clinical Experience (OOPE), for UK speciality training registrars in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, pursuing a Master's in Gyn Oncology (MCh Gyn Oncology) and an MD (self-funded registration). A recent clinical research fellow has completed the fellowship as an OOPR in the department and is currently writing up the MD thesis.

Main duties of the job

Provide middle-grade clinical cover for inpatient care in ward/HDU/ITU

Take part in outpatient clinics and Gynaecologic oncology MDT

Contribute to work in Gynaecologic oncology theatres

Take part in the Gynaecology Oncology middle-grade on-call rota

Person Specification

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Essential

oConfidence in gynaecological surgical skills evidenced by ATSM/SITM oAble to demonstrate an appropriate level of clinical knowledge and the enthusiasm to promote evidence-based practice oDemonstrate evidence of being able to Manage time and prioritise clinical need

Desirable

oDemonstrable evidence of laparoscopy skills

Qualifications Essential

oFull GMC registration with a licence to practice oPrimary medical qualification recognised by the GMC oPart 3 MRCOG completed

Desirable

oPostgraduate degree oEvidence of distinction at university or postgraduate examinations oCertification of previous robotic training

Experience Essential

oEvidence of 4-7 years clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. oEvidence of involvement in an audit project, a quality improvement project or research project oOncology experience
