An exciting and challenging position has arisen for a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Carpenter/Joiner progressing to Level 3 within The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Support service installations and their maintenance are an essential part of the NHS and form a vital link in Healthcare Provision. The precise details of any of the apprenticeship are dependent on a number of factors that may be subject to change at various stages of the training and qualifications already obtained, however, the information below will provide an overview of the envisaged training requirements of the apprenticeship.

Main duties of the job
The major element of the apprenticeship is practical training in site carpentry to Level 2 Standard progressing onto Level 3; the apprentice will attend Sunderland/Ashington College and may spend time on external sites to fulfil elements of the apprenticeship.

Job description Job responsibilities
The apprenticeship will commence during the week commencing 31st August 2026 subject to all employment checks being carried out. Qualifications acceptable on entry are a minimum of GCSE Grade 4, or equivalent, in at least 5 subjects to include Mathematics & English.
You will need to be able to meet all the eligibility requirements as prescribed by the apprenticeship criteria to undertake the role.
To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must:
Have the right to work and remain in the UK. Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years. Must not be self-employed. Provide original evidence of required English and Maths qualifications.
Further information:
You will not be considered if you have an equivalent or higher qualification in the same or a very similar subject. You must not be engaged in any other funded training or education programme. We cannot sponsor applicants during or on successful completion of the apprenticeship so please ensure you meet visa status eligibility. We cannot accept applications from student visa applicants.
Please be advised if you are a 'Non-UK National' applicant you must meet the eligibility criteria and fulfil the settlement requirements of the apprenticeship course funding. Your settlement status will need to be verified as eligible for funding, by the relevant apprenticeship provider, for you to formally enrol on the course.
