About this role

Job summary

Appropriate clinical responsibility for the care of patients delegated by the consultant to his/ her charge. Coresponsibilityfor the proper functioning of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department, including the supervision ofmore junior medical staff.

Main duties of the job

o Participation in the on call rota.o Attending clinics and assessing patients and formulating treatment decisions seeking advice from the consultant asappropriate.o Attending theatre sessions with the consultant and assisting or performing procedures as appropriate.o Running of wards with consultant cover on site during the day, consultant off site after hours.

Working within a multidisciplinary team. Teaching and training staff in other medical disciplines, nursing and support staff as appropriate. Communication with other team members as appropriate. Co-ordinating appropriate medical disciplines concerned with care for your speciality and communicatingappropriately with general practitioners (GPs) and community agencies. Assessment, care and treatment of patients presenting acutely to the speciality and referred to the speciality.

Full GMC registration Medical Degree MRCOG Part 1 Medical education in a university recognised by GMC Completion of Foundation Training Able to work full shift pattern Excellent communication skills At least 6 months experience working in the NHS UK
