Job summary
Working under the direct supervision of the HCA manager and Nursing team leader, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care to enable it to run effectively.
Main duties of the job
Conduct a range of clinical procedures, including venepuncture, ECGs, spirometry, wound care, suture/clip removal, and urine testing.Support the management of long-term conditions, including diabetes health checks and patient monitoring.Assist GPs with minor operations, IUCD procedures, and provide chaperone support when required.Process and manage patient specimens, ensuring accurate handling and timely submission.Maintain vaccine cold chain compliance, monitor clinical equipment, and ensure consulting rooms are fully stocked and prepared.Provide patient education and health promotion, including smoking cessation support and advice to encourage self-management.Accurately record clinical consultations and maintain confidential patient records in line with practice policies.Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, responding promptly to clinical tasks, emails, and patient needs.Deliver compassionate, professional care while promoting patient safety, equality, dignity, and wellbeing.Maintain and develop your clinical knowledge and skills through ongoing training, ensuring competence in resuscitation procedures and adherence to best practice.

Qualifications Essential
GCSE English Care certificate NVQ level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
Desirable
Qualified to NVQ level 3 Qualified in Phlebotomy
Experience Essential
Experience working within Primary Care Experience of SystmOne
