Job summary
In line with the philosophy of the clinical area the post holder will beresponsible for the assessment, planning and implementation and evaluationof care for the identified service user group in conjunction with other staff.To maintain high standards of nursing care to service users and to contributeto the development of comprehensive psychiatric nursing service, whichmeets the needs of service users and carers.To take charge of the Unit in the absence of the Unit Manager or deputy andto instruct/demonstrate knowledge and skills to junior staff.All staff should comply with the Trust's Anti-Discriminatory Statement, Employee Charter, Trust Policies and Procedures, Code of Conduct and Equality and Diversity.

Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will:o be a key member of the Inpatient Teamo be responsible / primary nurse for a designated group of patientso be responsible for the assessment of their needs and for the planningo implement and evaluate the care provided to meet service user needso provide clinical supervision to junior staff memberso have excellent communication and relationship management skillso treat patients with fairness and respect, maintaining confidentiality appropriatelyo assist the inpatients manager, the team and charge nurses in maintaining standards of careo be fully involved in ward rounds, handovers and other meetings where patient care is discussed and reviewed as requiredo participate in the assessment, admission, transfer and discharge of patients according to local guidelines and standards.

In addition to managing the clinical aspects of being a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will take an active part in the assessment,treatment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for service users in collaboration with inpatient multi-disciplinaryservices. You will be liaising with colleagues and carers, ensuring they are fully aware of all aspects of a service users care and treatment. You will have effective communication skills and be able to contribute towards patient recovery and wellbeing. You will be able to identify individuals' care needs. You will be planning, implementing and evaluating care plans and risk assessments in collaboration with other teams andprofessionals. You will be maintaining lines of communication with all departments and staff involved in a service users care. Reporting onprogress and effectiveness to the appropriate MDT.
