Job Summary
Cleans all areas of the facility by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
• Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Housekeeping Department.
• Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, patient care units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, restrooms, offices, and all other areas within UBH campus.
• Performs discharge cleaning according to policy.
• Demonstrates ability to use and maintain cleaning equipment properly.
• Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
• Introduces self to patients, families, and visitors as appropriate.
• Handles regular and hazardous waste appropriately.
• Cleans and stocks housekeeping carts and closets at end of shift.
• Observes safety and security precautions including reporting safety hazards to supervisors.
Professional Requirements
• Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Wears appropriate clothing for job functions. Wears ID badge.
• Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, administration, and staff.
• Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
• Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
• Completes all work assignments in a timely manner.
• Attends staff meetings regularly or reads and reports to the manager all staff memos concerning work.
• Actively participates in the department's continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
• Complies with infection control practices by following universal and isolation precautions, and the dress and hygiene code, for short natural fingernails and limiting wearing multiple rings.
• Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
• Uses the computerized punch time system correctly, has minimal missed punches.
• EXTRA EFFORT PERFORMANCE
• Willing to work alternate/rotating shifts as needed.
• Promotes good teamwork by helping co-workers.
• Exhibits a positive attitude; being optimistic, encouraging, and helpful to team members, and avoiding negativity with others.
• Maintains and submits CQI records in a timely manner.
