Daily Responsibilities – Laundry Aide (SNF)
• Collecting laundry: Pick up soiled linens, towels, and residents' personal clothing from units according to schedule; transport safely using carts while following infection control protocols.
• Sorting items: Separate laundry by type, fabric, color, and level of soiling; identify and properly handle contaminated or isolation items per facility guidelines.
• Operating equipment: Load and run washers and dryers using correct settings, detergents, and chemicals; monitor cycles to ensure proper cleaning and sanitation.
• Folding and finishing: Fold, stack, and prepare clean linens and garments; ensure items are neat, undamaged, and ready for use.
• Labeling and organization: Maintain proper labeling of residents' personal clothing; organize items for accurate return and storage.
• Distribution: Deliver clean linens to nursing units and return residents' personal clothing to appropriate rooms in a timely manner.
• Quality checks: Inspect items for stains, damage, or wear; rewash or remove from service as needed; notify supervisor of unusable items.
• Infection control compliance: Follow all safety and hygiene procedures, including use of PPE, proper handling of soiled/contaminated linens, and adherence to OSHA and facility standards.
• Maintaining work area: Keep laundry room clean, organized, and stocked; clean lint traps, carts, and equipment daily.
• Supply management: Monitor inventory of detergents, chemicals, and linen supplies; report shortages.
• Communication: Work with nursing staff to ensure resident needs are met; report lost/missing items or special requests.
This role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe environment and supporting resident comfort and care.
