Key Responsibilities
• Assist with reviewing project plans, drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for landscaping, irrigation, hardscape, grading, drainage, and related scopes of work.
• Help prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and vendor services.
• Request and compare pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Assist in preparing bid proposals, scope summaries, and supporting documentation.
• Identify missing information, plan discrepancies, or potential scope gaps and communicate them to the Estimator or Project Manager.
• Maintain organized bid files, estimate worksheets, vendor quotes, and project documentation.
• Support communication between estimating, operations, vendors, and project teams.
• Track bid deadlines and assist with ensuring proposals are completed and submitted timely.
• Learn and follow company estimating standards, pricing procedures, and approval processes.
• Assist with post-bid follow-up, revisions, and project handoff documentation as needed.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree, trade school, or coursework in construction management, landscape design, estimating, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience in landscaping, construction, irrigation, estimating, or field operations preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret basic construction plans, drawings, and specifications preferred.
• Strong math, organization, and computer skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with takeoff or estimating software is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Good communication skills and willingness to ask questions and learn.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based, with occasional site visits or field coordination as needed. The role requires the ability to review plans, use a computer for extended periods, and communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal team members.
