About this role

Part 2: Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) operations on tubular products in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), engineering requirements, and project specifications.

Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, procedures, and technical documentation.

Set up, operate, adjust, and maintain SAW welding equipment to achieve required weld quality and productivity targets.

Ensure all welds comply with applicable codes, standards, customer specifications, and acceptance criteria.

Conduct self-inspections and visual checks before, during, and after welding activities to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.

Monitor welding parameters, heat input, consumables, and equipment performance to maintain process control and weld integrity.

Collaborate effectively with supervisors, inspectors, quality personnel, and production teams to achieve production schedules and quality objectives.

Maintain accurate records related to welding activities, consumable usage, and production requirements as assigned.

Maintain good housekeeping standards within the work area and ensure proper handling and storage of welding materials and equipment.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, training programs, and qualification activities as assigned.

Perform any other duties assigned by management that are within the scope of the position.

Comply with Oil States Industries HSE Policies, HSE Management System requirements, safe work practices, hazard identification, risk control measures, and incident reporting procedures.

Adhere to Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and company procedures.

Formal Education & Certification

1

Technical or Vocational School Certificate in Welding, Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

2

Ability to successfully qualify and maintain welder qualifications in accordance with company and customer requirements.

3

Current welder qualification records in accordance with applicable industry standards are preferred.

4

Successfully pass practical welding qualification tests and maintain qualification status in accordance with applicable WPS, customer specifications, and company requirements.

Knowledge & Experience

1

Minimum 5 years of relevant SAW welding experience in fabrication, offshore, oil & gas, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering environments.

2

Experience welding tubular products, heavy-wall pipes, pressure-containing components, or similar critical fabricated products.

3

Strong ability to interpret fabrication drawings, WPSs, PQRs, and technical specifications.

4

Good understanding of welding metallurgy, heat input control, weld distortion, and defect prevention.

5

Experience working with carbon steel, low-alloy steel such as CS P1 Gr1-4(ASME IX material grouping)

AISI 4130, AISI 8630, ASTM A182 F22 / 2¼Cr-1Mo, ASTM A707 Grade L3, and other applicable materials.

Familiarity with welding inspection requirements, NDT methods, and acceptance criteria.

Technical Skills

1

Experience performing welding activities in accordance with approved WPSs and applicable industry standards such as ASME, AWS, API, and customer requirements.

2

Experience operating automated SAW equipment; experience with multi-wire SAW systems is preferred.

3

Knowledge of weld defect prevention techniques, root cause identification, and corrective actions.

4

Experience welding critical components used in demanding service conditions and high-integrity applications.

5

Ability to use measuring instruments and inspection tools relevant to welding and fabrication activities.
