About this role
BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial refrigeration systems and associated equipment.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on refrigeration equipment, compressors, pumps, motors, valves, condensers, evaporators, and control systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues using schematics, P&IDs, and diagnostic equipment.
• Monitor refrigeration system performance and identify abnormal operating conditions.
• Perform equipment inspections and document findings, repairs, and maintenance activities in the CMMS system.
• Respond to refrigeration alarms, system upsets, and emergency conditions as required.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Support Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements and participate in incident investigations, audits, and safety reviews where applicable.
• Perform refrigerant recovery, charging, and leak detection in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with Operations and other maintenance disciplines to prioritize and complete work activities.
• Assist with equipment startups, shutdowns, outages, and capital projects.
• Participate in after-hours callout rotation and emergency response activities as required.
• Mentor and assist less experienced technicians when applicable.
• Keep and provide timely, accurate records of all refrigeration equipment at the Deer Park and Pasadena Terminals
• Other duties as assigned by management.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• EPA Approved Technician, Type Universal 40 CFR 82 Subpart F.
• Minimum of 5 years of industrial refrigeration, HVAC/R experience.
• Strong knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems, compressors, pumps, valves, and associated process equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret:
• P&IDs
• Mechanical drawings
• Electrical schematics
• Equipment manuals
• Proficient in the use of diagnostic and testing equipment including multimeters, gauges, and vibration/temperature monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety practices including:
• Lockout/Tagout
• Confined Space
• Hot Work
• PPE requirements
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver's license required.
