About this role
The Head of Curriculum is a key operational leadership role, responsible for the day-to-day management, delivery, and quality assurance within a designated curriculum area. Reporting directly to the Dean of Faculty, the HoC will ensure a successful and enjoyable learning experience for all learners, driving high standards of teaching, learning, and learner outcomes through effective operational planning, hands-on team management, and the local implementation of college policies and strategies. The post could involve extensive travel across Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, flexibility in working hours, and will lead to working within the Dual Sector University. Provide effective operational leadership for the ILS, Fresh Start and Foundation department. Lead and manage curriculum teams to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment that enables learners to achieve their full potential. Drive continuous improvement through effective quality assurance, self-assessment, performance monitoring and quality improvement planning. Monitor learner recruitment, attendance, retention, achievement and progression, implementing targeted interventions where required. Lead curriculum planning and development, ensuring programmes respond to employer demand, regional priorities and Welsh Government and Medr strategic objectives. Lead and support staff through effective performance management, coaching and professional development. Oversee operational aspects of curriculum delivery, including staffing, timetabling, resource planning and budget management. Champion inclusive practice, equality, diversity and learner wellbeing, ensuring all learners receive the support they need to succeed. Promote bilingualism and support the development of Welsh-medium learning opportunities across the curriculum. Contribute to whole-college strategic priorities and cross-college initiatives that enhance learner success and organisational performance.
