The Pharmacy Dispensary Lead plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day management of the outpatient pharmacy dispensary service, ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient supply of medicines to patients. Working closely with the Pharmacy Manager, the post holder will oversee dispensary operations, supervise staff, coordinate workloads and rotas, monitor service performance, and maintain high standards of patient care and regulatory compliance. The role includes responsibility for stock control, dispensing quality, controlled drug processes, staff development, and continuous service improvement.As a senior member of the pharmacy team, the post holder will deputise for the Pharmacy Manager when required and contribute to the ongoing development of outpatient pharmacy services.

Pharmacy Dispensary Lead
Location: Denmark Hill, London
Flexibility:On site this role requires full-time on-site presence in the Outpatient Dispensary at King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill.
Type:Permanent
Salary: £46,400 - £55,100 per annum plus up to 12% annual bonus
We are looking for an experienced Dispensary Lead to join our Outpatient Pharmacy team, ideally with experience within hospital pharmacy dispensary services. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading the day-to-day operations of the dispensary, ensuring the safe, effective and efficient dispensing of medicines while supporting the Pharmacy Manager in meeting dispensary KPIs.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the day-to-day operations of the Outpatient Dispensary, organising workload and supervising all dispensary staff.
Deputise for the Pharmacy Manager during periods of absence, ensuring the smooth running of the dispensary.
Oversee dispensing of outpatient prescriptions, controlled drugs and private prescriptions to agreed performance targets.
Review dispensary errors and implement strategies to mitigate risk and improve performance.
Support recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of dispensary staff.
Generate and maintain an effective dispensary rota and ensure adequate stock control.
Requirements:
NVQ Level 3 plus accredited underpinning knowledge (e.g. BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science), or equivalent.
Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain.
Relevant experience in a hospital pharmacy, including supervisory or operational management experience.
Sound knowledge of the regulations and legislation relevant to pharmacy services.
Strong communication, organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.
Able to work flexibly to support late duty, weekend and bank holiday dispensary services.
