An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint 1 new senior clinical fellow to join our renal department starting from September 2026 for 12 months. You will be part of a team providing both inpatient and outpatient care to patients with the full spectrum of kidney diseases and be able to participate in a full range of educational opportunities present within the department.

Successful candidates will work within a well led environment, committed to supporting ongoing professional development. These posts are ideal for those who:

. Have completed internal medicine training

. Are making the transition from core to specialist training and seeking to consolidate knowledge and experience

Have not previously worked in the NHS and seek an introduction to renal medicine at higher specialty trainee level

Completed specialist training and keen to gain additional experience of subspecialties in a world renowned institution

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will rotate through :- Acute Kidney Unit- Acute transplant recipients,- ITU stepdowns-AKI transferred from other trusts in North Central London as part of the AKI Network.

They will also attend a variety of clinics including :

- Dialysis (Haemodialysis and PD)- Transplantation: acute and chronic clinics, transplant assessment clinic- Low clearance- general and sub-speciality nephrology e.g. vasculitis, lupus,. Nephrotic syndrome.

Person Specification

Education & professional Qualifications Essential

Possession of MBBS or equivalent qualification Eligibility to work in the UK by May 2026 Possession of GMC registration and a licence to practice at the time of appointment and up to date fitness to practice

Desirable

Full MRCP(UK) or equivalent Possession of a current ALS certification or equivalent Possession of a teaching qualification

Skills & Attributes Essential

Ability to work as part of and lead a multi-disciplinary team Ability to supervise, manage and lead junior medical staff Understanding of the principles of clinical governance, patient safety, clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives Demonstrable IT skills

Desirable

Publications or presentations in renal medicine

Experience Essential

Proficiency in a range of medical procedures Ability to insert temporary haemodialysis catheters independently Commitment to the specialty with evidence of previous experience in nephrology, dialysis and transplantation Sufficient knowledge base to act at specialist registrar level (ST3+) equivalent Experince in the training of junior medical staff, including the teaching of practical procedures

Desirable

Experience in managing complex renal patients (AKI, CKD, vasculitis) Academic & Teaching
