About this role

Job summary

Enable, promote and support the effective use of data, information,knowledge and technology to support and improve health andhealth-care delivery.The Digital Midwife working with the Corporate Solutions IT teamwill ensure UHMBT has the required information and technologyservices to provide excellent clinical care to its Midwifery patients,in conjunction with stakeholders throughout the wider healthcommunity.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in conjunction with the Corporate Solutions team reviewing the IT technology and equipment in maternity areas of the Trust, offering new ways of working using, e.g. mobile technology to support future practices.

Ensure that all key stakeholders are consulted in the design, delivery and evaluation of clinical informatics systems, including women and families, carers, clinicians, technical and programme teams and best practice groups.

Responsibilities include leading the governance process for clinical systems, participating and providing clinical expertise in the strategy development for the Lorenzo information system portfolio, leading the IT program across Maternity Services, and overseeing the safe and efficient design of Electronic Patient Records.

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.

As an ambassador of the Midwifery profession and digital leader, will work autonomously to ensure clinical practice, supported by digital technology, meets professional standardsEnsure the maternity IT system functionality adheres to / supportspractitioners professional standards e.g. the NMC CodeWorking towards the ambitions of Better Births evaluate the maternity IT system and its ability, as an enabler, to meet the recommendations to drive up patient safety

Practice in accordance with theNMC Code

Maintain competencies relating to digital leadership by attending regularupdates such as local user group initiatives and the national DigitalMidwives Expert Reference Group.

Provide professional leadership including motivation of staff regarding the use of digital technology
