Job summary

Local Medical Committee (LMC) Administrator

Hours: 15- 20 hours per week

Pay: £20-£26 per hour (depending on experience)

We are seeking an experienced, highly organised LMC Administrator to provide professional administrative and operational support to our Local Medical Committee.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Practice Manager, Deputy Practice Manager, ICB manager, or senior primary care administrator looking to use their knowledge of general practice and the wider NHS in a flexible, rewarding role.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the LMC, acting as a central point of contact for member practices, GP representatives and NHS stakeholders.

You will coordinate meetings, manage communications, prepare agendas and minutes, maintain governance records, and support the smooth running of the committee. The role requires someone who is organised, proactive, able to work independently, and confident managing multiple priorities.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive administrative support to the LMC and its Executive Team. Organise committee meetings, prepare agendas and papers, and produce accurate minutes. Maintain governance documentation, records and action logs. Act as the first point of contact for enquiries from GP practices and external organisations. Liaise with GP representatives, Practice Managers, Primary Care Networks, Integrated Care Boards, NHS England and other stakeholders. Coordinate projects and follow up actions arising from meetings. Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations and briefing papers. Support member communications, events and educational meetings. Ensure compliance with information governance and data protection requirements.About You

You will have:

Experience working within general practice, an Integrated Care Board (ICB), Primary Care Network (PCN), Local Medical Committee or another NHS organisation. Excellent organisational and administrative skills with a high level of attention to detail. Experience of committee administration, governance or senior-level business support. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently, use initiative and manage competing priorities. Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365.A background as a Practice Manager, Deputy Practice Manager, ICB Manager or Primary Care Manager would be particularly well suited to this role.

About us

The LMC in Barnsley is a small organisation but works closely with other LMCs in South Yorkshire. There are 3 employees including this role and a committee of 12 GPs.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GCSE Grade A-C in English and Maths Knowledge oF NHS General Practice and wider NHS systems

Experience Essential

Experience of working in NHS general practice Or other transferable experience of administration and managemnt involving a wide range of stakeholders.

Desirable

Experience of working in NHS commissioning and General Practice
