About this role

Job summary

The job entails working within Regent Point and both hospital site cashiering offices, Freeman Hospital and the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

You will be working within one of the Financial Services Teams ensuring high quality and accuracy in all areas of work. The role will require dealing with internal departments and external organisations and individuals.

This post is a generic role within the Financial Services team, and the successful candidate could be working within the Accounts Payable Department, Accounts Receivable Department or Corporate Financial Services, including the cashiers' offices.

This post offers an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and experience within the Financial Services Department and is being advertised as both a full-time Band 3 post and an Apprenticeship post depending on eligibility of the applicant.

Main duties of the job

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Financial Services Team.

The successful candidate will work within Financial Services and contribute towards a high-quality service.

You should ideally have experience of working in a busy finance office environment and will possess excellent communication and organisational skills and will possess a real commitment to excellent service delivery. You must be capable of working to tight deadlines whilst ensuring consistency and accuracy. An enthusiastic and energetic approach to work along with an acceptance of work flexibility and continuously changing working practices is essential.

Please note that this post could be based at one of the following Trust Sites

Regent Point Gosforth, Freeman Hospital, Royal Victoria Infirmary. The successful applicant could be expected to work across all departments within Financial Services across all three sites.

Job description Job responsibilities

Band 3

To assist in the day to day operation of the Financial Services department ensuring the delivery of a consistently high quality service to the Trust To work flexibly as required to meet the needs of the various Financial Services Department teams To assist in the co-ordination and control of activities within Financial Services To ensure that transactions relating to the Trusts activities are processed in a timely manner To work flexibly and actively assist in the collection or payment of monies relating to the Trusts activities To take immediate action in any remedial adjustments required to ensure the accurate financial recording of the Trusts activities Apprentice Band 2, upon successful completion Band 3 within an 18 month period

Band 2 Salary £25,272

Throughout the apprenticeship the post holder will gain experience within the Financial Services Department, including areas such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Systems and Controls, Cashiers and Technical Financial Services To assist in the day to day operation of the Finance Services department ensuring the delivery of a consistently high quality service to the Trust To work flexibly as required to meet the needs of the various Financial services Departments To assist in the co-ordination and control of activities within the various Finance Services Teams To ensure that transactions relating to the Trusts activities are processed in a timely manner To work flexibly and actively assist in the collection or payment of monies relating to the Trusts activities To take immediate action in any remedial adjustments required to ensure the accurate financial recording of the Trusts activities Apprenticeship Posts You will need to be able to meet all the eligibility requirements as prescribed by the apprenticeship criteria to undertake the role.

To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must:

Have the right to work and remain in the UK. Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years. Must not be self-employed. Provide original evidence of required English and maths qualifications. Further information:

Please be advised if you are a 'Non-UK National' applicant you must meet the eligibility criteria and fulfil the settlement requirements of the apprenticeship course funding. Meets All Band 3 Criteria Essential

Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Mathematics and English Accounting Technician Intermediate, or be progressing towards a professional accountancy (CCAB) qualification or NVQ Level 3 in a numerate subject or equivalent experience An understanding of accounting procedures A good working knowledge of financial and non-financial computer systems Ability to be able to work independently and as part of a team to ensure strict deadlines are adhered to Able to work within set routines with little direct supervision Good communication and time management skills are essential

Desirable

European Computer Driving Licence GCSE grades 4 to 9 Previous NHS Experience Experience in a Finance Department of a busy organisation

Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Mathematics (Grades 9 - 4, or A* - C, or Functional/Key skills at level 2) and English Motivated to complete further studying and continuous professional development Able to work towards the completion of a project within set deadlines A good working knowledge of financial and non-financial computer systems such as Microsoft packages, is essential Ability to be able to work independently and as part of a team to ensure strict deadlines are adhered to Able to work within set routines with little direct supervision Demonstrate the ability to work within a team
