About this role

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen at the Royal Derby Hospital within the Department of Imaging for a part time (33 hours/week) Interventional Medical Secretary to join our secretarial team

You will be part of an administration team of secretarial staff providing an efficient and professional medical secretarial service, within an established team of Clinicians.

You will need to be an enthusiastic and motivated team player with excellent communication and problem solving skills. You will require high levels of tact, diplomacy with the ability to prioritise your own workload effectively.

Main duties of the job

You will have a broad range of administrative skills in particular:

Previous secretarial or administration experience Supporting a growing team of Interventional Consultant Radiologists within the Imaging Department. Ability to work independently and as part of a team An understanding of the 18-week RTT process Knowledge and familiarisation of medical terminology Excellent organisational and communication skills Knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet and email systems RSA II or equivalent qualification / equivalent experience NVQ level III Business and Administration or equivalent knowledge and skills Audio typing qualification or experience desirable Closing date of applications: 5 August 2026

Education, Training & Qualifications Essential

Educated to O'level/GCSE or eqivalent

Communication Essential

Ability to communicate effectively - Including written,face to face and telephone Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with a wide range of professionals

Desirable

Ability to ensure that accurate and effective communication is maintained within the team Must be an effective team player and have a flexible approach to all areas of work

Skills & Ability Essential

Ability to work to deadlines Advanced level of IT to include Microsoft Word and Excel
