This is a 16 hour role, with working hours spread across three days and to include one 7am or 7.30am start with school pick up option every day, if applicable to applicant.
Working as a Healthcare Assistant for Chadsfield Medical Practice involves providing high quality, patient centred care in a busy GP practice environment. The role includes supporting GPs and nurses with a range of clinical tasks such as taking blood pressure readings, performing ECGs, assisting with phlebotomy and carrying out NHS Health Checks. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate and up to date patient records, preparing clinical rooms and equipment, promoting health and wellbeing, and supporting infection prevention and control measures. A key part of the role is ensuring patients receive safe, compassionate, and professional care while contributing to the efficient day to day running of the practice
Main duties of the job
A Healthcare Assistant supports GPs and nurses by providing basic clinical care and helping with the smooth running of the practice. Main duties include:
Taking and recording patients' vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight).
Carrying out routine health checks, such as ECGs, simple wound care, and urine testing, where trained.
Collecting blood samples (phlebotomy) and preparing specimens for laboratory testing.
Supporting health promotion activities, including NHS health checks and lifestyle advice.
Preparing treatment rooms, maintaining equipment, and ensuring infection prevention and control standards are followed.
Updating patient records accurately and maintaining confidentiality.
Assisting with administrative tasks and supporting clinicians to provide safe, effective patient care.

Chadsfield Medical Practice is a medium sized GP Practice with 3 GP Partners, salaried GP's a nursing team and HCA plus administration staff, We are a caring, and team focused organisation with a strong teaching and research interest.
Our Practice sits within Romiley Health Centre and has good links with our allied health professionals within the NHS structure. We are part of South East Stockport PCN and share some services within the neighbourhood.

The role includes undertaking NHS Health Checks, new patient health checks, measuring and recording patients' vital signs, performing venepuncture (phlebotomy), carrying out ECG recordings, collecting and processing clinical specimens, administering vaccinations and injections where appropriately trained and authorised, and supporting chronic disease monitoring. The post holder is expected to provide compassionate, respectful, and confidential care, promote health and wellbeing through lifestyle advice. The role also involves maintaining accurate patient records, preparing and cleaning clinical rooms and equipment, monitoring clinical stock, ensuring equipment is maintained and calibrated, and adhering to infection prevention and control procedures. The Healthcare Assistant is expected to recognise and report safeguarding concerns, comply with health and safety legislation and practice policies, participate in emergency procedures, maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with GDPR, work within their scope of competence, and engage in mandatory training, clinical supervision, appraisal, audit, quality improvement, and service development activities while upholding the professional standards and values of the practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
-NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent experience). -Experience working in a healthcare or care setting. Experience providing direct patient care. -Phlebotomy qualification -Experience maintaining accurate patient records. -Understanding of patient confidentiality, data protection (GDPR), infection prevention and control, safeguarding, and health and safety. -Good organisational and time management skills. -Accurate record keeping. -Competent in measuring vital signs - Willingness to learn and develop professionally -Satisfactory DBS clearance
Desirable
-Previous experience working in general practice or primary care. --Experience undertaking NHS Health Checks, ECGs, venepuncture, and health promotion activities. -Knowledge of primary care services, Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), chronic disease monitoring, and NHS policies. -Familiarity with clinical systems such as EMIS Web -Full UK driving licence (if community work is required).
