Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) with prior experience to support our friendly practice team, consisting of: 3 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 1 Practice Manager, 1 Lead Nurse, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 HCAs, a team of experienced and dedicated Receptionists, Medical Secretaries, Administrators, and team leads.The successful candidate will possess a professional, positive and welcoming manner. You will have the opportunity to support other medical professionals and provide health support and advice directly to patients within the scope of your competency, and in turn will be supported by an experienced practice team.
Main duties of the job
Duties will include: phlebotomy, diabetic checks, wound care, B12 injections, ECGs, BMI and BP observations, seasonal vaccinations, NHS health checks, and anticoagulation monitoring (all dependent on qualifications and experience).

Location: Market Lavington Surgery
The purpose of the role is to support the GPs and nursing team in delivering safe, effective and high-quality primary care services to our practice population. The post holder will undertake a range of clinical and administrative duties, working within their scope of practice and in accordance with practice policies, protocols and professional standards. The role focuses on health promotion, disease prevention and delivering high-quality patient care while carrying out the responsibilities outlined in this job description.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Experience providing direct HCA/Nursing patient care or support in a healthcare setting.
Desirable
Experience in general practice or community healthcare.
Knowledge and skills Essential
Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to follow instructions and protocols; maintains accurate records. Understanding of confidentiality, infection control, and safeguarding. Caring, kind and compassionate; calm under pressure; team player; adaptable; willing to learn and take feedback. Experience of venepuncture in a primary care setting. Awareness of infection prevention and control standards. Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
Desirable
Basic IT skills and familiarity with clinical systems (SystmOne). Understanding of QOF and chronic disease management. Experience of undertaking NHS Health Checks. Experience of ECG recording. Experience of wound care and simple dressings.
