Adult Critical Care UnitBand 5 Staff Nurse - Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU)We are excited to invite applications for the Band 5 Staff Nurse post to join our world-class Adult Cardiac Critical Care Unit (ACCU) at St Bartholomew's Hospital Heart Centre. This is a unique opportunity to rotate across three critical care units, each caring for a diverse range of patients, including:o Post-operative cardiothoracic and thoracic patientso Heart Attack Centre patientso Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) patientso Vascular patientso Cancer patientsWe are proud to have been rated as 'Outstanding' in leadership by the Care Quality Commission in 2017. Your professional development is a priority for us, and we offer opportunities to undertake courses such as ILS, ALS, CALS, BSc, MSc, and even PhD programmes. We also support nurse-led research, fully backed by our Director of Research and Development.This role will involve shift patterns of long days, nights and bank holidays to meet the service requirements of the ACCU
Main duties of the job
Main DutiesAssess, plan, provide, and evaluate skilled evidence-based care for critically ill patients (L2 & L3). Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse (RN1) with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of UK Degree or equivalent in relevant field of study Intravenous accreditation Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
Prep for mentorship course or equivalent. Evidence of professional development e.g. Acute care skills training
Experience Essential
Previous experience in an acute setting post qualification. Experience in acute setting while on nursing placement
Desirable
Experience in caring for level 2/3 patients in critical care/high dependency setting or other acute setting.
Knowledge Essential
Full understanding of the NMC The Code: professional standards (2015) and revalidation process to maintain professional registration. Knowledge of assessment, planning and evaluating patient care according to the needs of the individual. Reflective practitioner Knowledge on current healthcare issues.
