Job summary Are you looking to start a rewarding career in healthcare support services? We are seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our Hospital Sterilisation & Disinfection Unit (HSDU) as a Junior Decontamination Technician. In this vital role, you will help ensure that surgical instruments, endoscopes and reusable medical devices are cleaned, disinfected, sterilised and made ready for patient care Working under the guidance of Senior Decontamination Technicians and Supervisors, you will support the safe reprocessing of reusable medical devices and contribute directly to the patient treatment pathway. Duties include receiving, cleaning, inspecting, packing, sterilising and dispatching medical instruments while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
Main duties of the job
Assist with the decontamination and sterilisation of reusable medical devices and endoscopes. Inspect, assemble and package surgical instruments and theatre trays. Operate decontamination equipment in line with departmental procedures and manufacturer instructions. Accurately track instruments using electronic tracking systems. Carry out collection and delivery duties to clinical departments. Support quality management processes and maintain high standards of service delivery. Work effectively with colleagues across theatres, endoscopy, wards and clinics
