About this role

Job summary

We are seeking a pharmacy support worker to join our friendly pharmacy team working from the Community Hospitals in the Central Area of BCU, including Llandudno Hospital. The post holder will be required to assist with the dispensing and supply of medication as well as the receipt, processing, storage and stock control of medicines in the pharmacy department and on wards in the hospitals. Duties also include supporting other areas of pharmacy at ward level supporting the ward-based pharmacy teams.

If you are a proactive, organised team player we'd love to hear from you. This post would suit somebody with a hospital pharmacy background, or with community pharmacy experience wishing to make a move into the hospital environment. All training will be provided.

Full-time, part-time, and school-hours working patterns will be considered and we encourage flexible working

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

You must have either successfully achieved the relevant units of pharmacy services skills NVQ level 2 (QCF) or the relevant units of a GPhC accredited training programme of equivalent level to pharmacy service skills NVQ level 2 (QCF). You should have experience of working as a qualified dispenser with good communication & organisational skills and experience of using computer systems for dispensing, stock control and word processing.

Person Specification

Qualifications and/or Knowledge Essential

GCSE maths and English language to Grade C or equivalent NVQ Level 2 (relevant units) in Pharmacy Service Skills/Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent or gain in agreed timeframe. Skills , knowledge and experience equivalent to level 3 NVQ or gain in agreed timeframe Good numeracy and literacy skills including; calculations, percentages, decimal, fractions. Basic knowledge of the functions of the NHS.

Desirable

ECDL or equivalent. Current knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice. Good knowledge of drug stock management or stock control

Experience Essential

Working experience in Pharmacy and Dispensing

Desirable

Working experience in a Hospital Pharmacy. Working experience on a Hospital Ward.

Aptitude and Abilities Skills Essential

Ability to communicate with patients. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to make logical decisions e.g. setting stock levels.

The ability to speak or learn Welsh to a satisfactory level.
