Job summary
The Docs are seeking a motivated and patient-focused Salaried GP to join our team on a 13-week fixed-term contract to provide cover during a planned period of sabbatical leave.
This role offers 6-sessions per week, working Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 4 January 2027 until 2 April 2027.
It represents an excellent opportunity for a GP seeking a short-term position within a well-organised and supportive practice environment, with the potential for further locum or salaried opportunities beyond the contract period.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
Provide routine and urgent GP appointments across 6-sessions per week, both in-person and over the phoneDeliver safe, effective, evidence-based clinical careManage a broad range of acute and chronic conditionsUndertake associated clinical administration and results managementWork closely with the wider multidisciplinary teamSupport continuity of care throughout the sabbatical cover period

The GP will manage a varied caseload, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a primary care setting.
Responsibilities include consultations, home visits, prescribing, and contributing to the overall clinical and operational functioning of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Conduct in person, telephone and online consultations, home visits, and health assessments Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic conditions Prescribe in-line with national and GMMMG recommendations; issue repeat and acute prescriptions Maintain accurate, timely clinical records Develop care plans, provide health education, and refer patients when necessary
Practice Involvement
Participate in audits, significant event analyses, and quality improvement Contribute to the maintenance of electronic health records Engage in team meetings, clinical governance, and training events

Adhere to practice policies on confidentiality, data protection, safeguarding, and prescribing Handle patient and practice information with strict confidentiality

Maintain a clean, safe working environment Follow infection control policies and lead by example in safe practice Use PPE appropriately and train others when needed

Qualifications Essential
- GMC registration with licence to practise - Inclusion on the GP Register - Inclusion on an NHS Performers List - Excellent clinical and communication skills - Commitment to high-quality patient-centred care - Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Previous experience in UK General Practice - Experience of EMIS Web - Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
