Position: Full-time STC Faculty Position - Composition Discipline: English Composition Department: Language and Literature Campuses: Newtown, Upper Bucks, Lower Bucks
Bucks County Community College invites applications for a Full-Time Special Term Contract Instructor position in English Composition within the School of Language & Literature for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The successful candidate will teach all levels of English Composition courses on campus during the day, ranging from foundational writing sections to honors courses. Classes could be at Newtown, Bristol, or Perkasie campus locations.
Responsibilities include planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality classroom instruction based on the approved course outline by selecting and utilizing a variety of approved course materials. The faculty member will employ teaching methods that engage diverse student populations, demonstrating an enthusiasm for cultivating academic excellence across both standard and honors curricula.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach across multiple instructional modalities, including in-person, online, and hybrid formats.
Major Job Duties
• Knowledge of course development, instruction, and evaluation. Knowledgeable in student learning using appropriate methods.
• Conduct an engaging classroom based on the course outline.
• Motivate students by demonstrating sensitivity to concerns and actively involving students in classroom discussions and/or activities.
• Make arrangements for equipment and supplies, or other activities as needed.
• Complete all course assessments as required.
• Use technology to enhance teaching/learning in the classroom.
• Participating in the assessment process
• Maintaining current knowledge of the professional discipline
• Maintaining appropriate expertise and competence through continuing professional development
• Attend Fall and Spring Inservice session and professional development requirement.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree. in English, Composition/Rhetoric, or M.F.A. in Creative Writing
• Minimum of one (1) year of relevant teaching experience
Preferred Qualification
• Community College teaching experience
Appointment Term August 15, 2026 (Special Term Contract) 2026–2027 academic year
