Job Description: A radiology technician, also known as a radiologic technologist, plays a crucial role in a hospital setting by assisting in diagnosing and treating patients through the use of medical imaging techniques. Operates x-ray equipment safely and performs all the tasks of patient services using imaging modalities, under direction of Director of Radiology and Radiologist.
• Executes ionizing radiation to patients to take x-ray images in the safest manner possible. • Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patients daily. • Participates in CQI activities and provides input for improvement. • Provides directions to patients regarding radiologic exams. Provides education to patients regarding their ordered exams. • Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment after each exam. • Maintains adequate and proper records. • Prepares barium and other chemical mixtures for x-rays. • Must pass initial competency test and yearly competency testing thereafter. • Will assume other duties applicable to the operation of the Radiology Department as needed. Demonstrates flexibility of working hours to assure 24-hour departmental coverage, which may include on-call duty. • Must maintain current BLS. Essential Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology • Registration or registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists • Current Radiation Operators Certification with the Kentucky Department of Human Resources • BLS required.
