The Production Underwriting Consultant plays a key role in advancing our strategy by being customer driven and delivering profitable growth through operational excellence and innovation. You will apply a Commercial Lines underwriting perspective to enterprise modernization efforts that reduce friction and improve customer and agent experience. You will help drive change by stabilizing and continuously improving operations, strengthening cross-team alignment, and enhancing the overall underwriting experience. You will also provide primary underwriting support for key underwriting programs and priorities, including rules and workflow support. You will report to the Senior Manager, Underwriting Performance
In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110; Denver, CO 80112; Eden Prairie, MN 55343; Keene, NH 03431; St. Joseph, MO 64507; Phoenix, AZ 85034

Primary Accountabilities
• You will lead projects or initiatives to improve the efficiency of underwriting operations. • You will make recommendations that will enhance underwriting guidelines, systems or compliance efforts. • You will lead the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines, policies, new policy language and endorsements, procedures, and processes. • You will develop the communication change strategy for all impacted stakeholders and ensure successful delivery/execution of communication. • You will develop metrics and analyze underwriting data to make recommendations that impact profitability trends. • You will contribute to the development of underwriting strategies and associated initiatives and tactics that align to product strategies based on external industry and economic trends. • You will serve as expert resource for, or underwrite, the most complex cases.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service. • Demonstrated experience making significant underwriting decisions. • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills to review complex cases and/or review lines or books of business. • Demonstrated experience developing underwriting guidelines, processes and/or procedures. • Extensive knowledge and understanding of property and casualty insurance practices, standards, and concepts. • Extensive knowledge of underwriting guidelines, compliance and risk concepts in area of expertise. • Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, quantitative and analytical skills. • Demonstrated communication, project management, and leadership skills. • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and influence others. • Travel requirements up to 10%.
Additional Qualifications:
• Deep knowledge of underwriting principles and practices. • Demonstrated success driving organizational change, including stakeholder engagement, communication planning, training and adoption strategies. • Experience managing multiple complex initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. #LI-Hybrid
