About the role
We’re offering an exciting 12‑month internal secondment for a Collections Officer – Complex Collections to join our Credit & Affordability team. This role is open to AGL employees based in Melbourne who are looking to deepen their commercial acumen, build stakeholder capability, and gain exposure to complex, high‑value debt management.
Collections Experience plays a critical role in minimising overdue accounts and bad debt outcomes while maintaining a strong customer experience. The Complex Collections team manages high‑value and highly aged debt portfolios, working cross‑functionally to resolve customer indebtedness and improve engagement earlier in the collections lifecycle.
In this role, you will:
• Own and manage a portfolio of complex, high‑value debt accounts
• Apply strong commercial judgement to balance risk, revenue, and customer outcomes
• Conduct detailed account, interaction, and reconciliation analysis to determine appropriate collection strategies
• Proactively manage and resolve complex cash lock‑up disputes
• Engage with internal stakeholders across Credit & Affordability, Customer Markets, Finance, and Operations to drive outcomes
• Deliver robust reporting and trend analysis
• Contribute to overall team performance by supporting colleagues and sharing insights across the portfolio
What you’ll bring
• Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Confidence handling complex conversations
• Proven ability to self‑manage, prioritise competing demands, and work proactively
• Sound risk analysis and decision‑making capability
• Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
• Intermediate Excel skills and confidence working with data and reporting
