What we want The Medical Assistant I assists patients within an outpatient primary care clinic. The Medical Assistant I is responsible for conducting basic office based medical tasks, including the measurement of vital signs and patient medical histories. May give immunizations and or injections per physician’s orders. Serves as a medical instrument technician, conducting instrumentation cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization.
What you need to know Salary: $13.00-$17.00/hour and will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.

Required Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Two Years of Related Experience
Preferred Experience:
• Experience in a clinical setting/Experience in OBGYN services
Required Licenses and Certifications:
• Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within six months of employment
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
• Medical Assistant Certification
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
• Interpersonal and communication skills and ability to plan and organize effectively Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines, general understanding of electronic medical record systems Experience working with individuals and communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual – English/Spanish
Responsibilities Patient Care Responsibilities
• Provides patient care activities on a daily basis.
• Transfers patients from reception to patient care areas, measures vital signs, interviews patients for medical records, assists and/or chaperones physician during exams or procedures, administers injections, dispenses medications, transfers specimen, documents testing and lab results in medical records.
• Schedules visits and shots, performs research related activities and documents other activities in electronic medical records.
Clinic Responsibilities
• Ensures cleanliness of exam and treatment rooms, exam tables, counter tops, and doorknobs to prevent spread of infection in patient care areas.
• Stocks patient care rooms and nurses’ stations weekly as needed.
• Participates in documentation of patient care.
• Updates health information in electronic medical records. Assists physicians in maintenance of electronic medical records.
