Overview: The Quality Engineering Technician (QET) supports manufacturing and quality operations by conducting process audits, driving corrective actions, maintaining quality documentation, supporting First Article Inspection (FAI) activities, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. The QET works closely with Quality Engineers, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Quality Control teams to improve product quality, process adherence, and operational effectiveness.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required:
Process Audits & Compliance
• Conduct scheduled audits of manufacturing processes using applicable VMI Checklists, Control Plans, Quality Plans, and other quality standards. • Track audit completion status and maintain weekly audit schedules. • Document audit findings and monitor corrective actions through closure. • Verify process compliance and identify gaps requiring improvement. Corrective Action & QRQC Support
• Support Quick Response Quality Control (QRQC) activities by investigating top manufacturing quality issues. • Track implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions. • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution of quality concerns. • Maintain visibility of open quality issues and action status. Quality Control Checklist Management
• Review and improve QC inspection checklists based on manufacturing feedback and quality findings. • Identify gaps in existing inspection methods and recommend corrective updates. • Maintain current inspection documentation and ensure deployment of revisions. First Article Inspection (FAI) Support
• Coordinate and track planned and completed FAI activities. • Maintain FAI metrics and status reporting. • Ensure early notification and communication of upcoming FAI requirements. • Assist with documentation review and completion. Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve training, knowledge transfer, and quality processes. • Participate in process improvement projects and implementation activities. • Support development of standardized work practices and tracking methods for quality operations. • Collaborate with Quality Engineers and management to drive long-term quality improvements. Reporting & Documentation
• Maintain quality tracking systems, action logs, audit records, and performance metrics. • Prepare summaries of audit results, quality findings, corrective actions, and improvement activities. • Provide regular status updates to Quality Engineering and management teams.
Qualifications:
Education
• AS or BS degree preferred. • Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and manufacturing quality experience may be considered. Experience
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, quality, engineering technician, or quality control environment. • Experience supporting process audits, inspections, corrective actions, or quality system activities. • Experience working in high-volume manufacturing, electronics, server, or related industries preferred. Technical Knowledge
• Understanding of quality systems, inspection methods, and manufacturing processes. • Ability to interpret work instructions, control plans, quality plans, process flow diagrams, and engineering documentation. • Familiarity with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies. • Working knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements and documentation preferred. • Experience utilizing quality tracking systems, databases, and reporting tools. Skills & Competencies
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to identify process gaps and drive issue resolution through cross-functional collaboration. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Effective written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. • Ability to collect, analyze, and present quality data and metrics. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience conducting manufacturing process audits. • Familiarity with IPC standards, defect classification, and electronic assembly inspection. • Experience supporting QRQC, CAPA, 8D, SCAR, or continuous improvement activities. • Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems. • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience is a plus.
The anticipated pay rate for this position is $25-29/hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and business needs.
