About the role
The Stainless Steel Shear & Fabrication Operator is responsible for operating manual shearing equipment and other fabrication machinery to process stainless steel components according to engineering drawings and production requirements. This position requires strong blueprint-reading abilities, manufacturing math skills, and a commitment to producing high-quality parts while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Set up and operate manual shearing equipment to cut stainless steel materials to specified dimensions and tolerances. • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and manufacturing specifications. • Perform layout, measuring, and marking of stainless steel materials. • Operate fabrication equipment, including but not limited to: • Roll forming and plate rolling machines • Drill presses • Band saws and cold saws • Angle grinders • Deburring equipment • Other fabrication machinery as assigned
• Verify dimensions and quality using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges. • Complete fabrication operations accurately while meeting production schedules and quality standards. • Safely move and handle stainless steel materials and fabricated parts throughout the production process. • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and organized condition. • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). • Report quality, safety, maintenance, or material concerns to supervisors promptly. Qualifications Required
• High school diploma or GED. • Manufacturing, metal fabrication, or sheet metal experience preferred. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and shop work instructions. • Strong manufacturing math skills, including: • Fractions and decimals • Measurement conversions • Basic geometry • Accurate tape measure reading
• Experience using common measuring and inspection tools. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate fabrication equipment safely. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds. • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with fabrication operations. • Regular bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting. • Ability to safely work around manufacturing equipment and moving materials. Work Environment
• Stainless steel fabrication and manufacturing environment. • Exposure to machinery, noise, dust, sharp metal edges, and material handling activities. • Required use of safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other PPE. Key Skills
