About this role
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Follow and implement the teachers the teachers lesson plans and classroom routines with fidelity.
• Maintain a safe, respectful and positive classroom environment that aligns with school-wide expectations.
• Manage student behavior in a manner consistent with the school's behavior policies.
• Provide clear instructions and support to students while promoting engagement and learning.
• Take attendance and report any student issues or concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch and dismissal as assigned.
• Leave detailed notes for the returning teacher summarizing the day's activities and any notable student behavior or issues.
• Protect the confidentiality of students and staff in accordance with school policy and legal requirements.
• Follow all school policies, including safety procedures and code of conduct expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Prior experience working with children or in a classroom setting is strongly preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions, manage groups of children, and maintain classroom order.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and reliability.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• May substitute in various grade levels (K-8), including general education and special education settings.
• May be called on short notice
