About this Position
The Plant Mechanic I performs manual and mechanical work that involves preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance and/or operation of water and wastewater treatment and sewage pumping equipment. Must be able to perform on-call, callback, or standby duties as required.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 2 years of related experience and/or training
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Wastewater Works Operator "B" license and Water Works Operator "B" license (preferred)
• Valid Class B Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
• Or willingness/ability to obtain a Class B CDL within a year
Responsibilities
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance procedures on various equipment
• Document maintenance efforts and the materials and supplies used
• Complete housekeeping tasks (painting equipment and appurtenances, etc.)
• Maintain inventory of parts, tools, materials and supplies
• Perform corrective maintenance procedures on equipment
• Develop and track the equipment use schedule
• Rotate mechanical equipment
• Work with in-house and external service providers, contractors, and vendors
• Obtain the following Water and Wastewater Operator licenses:
• Temporary license within 10 days
• Class "D" license within one (1) year
• Class "C" license within two (2) years
Necessary Skills
• Strong mathematical ability
• Strong written/verbal communication skills
• Availability for on-call status during off duty hours (on 24/7 callback at least one week per month)
• Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
• Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, pulmonary function test, and audio screenings
