Position Summary The Teacher Aide supports the instructional and operational needs of the classroom and school community in alignment with the mission of Catholic education. Under the direction of the Principal and classroom teacher, the Teacher Aide assists in providing a safe, organized, and supportive learning environment. The Teacher Aide agrees to uphold the policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Chicago and St. John of the Cross Parish School. General Duties & Responsibilities
Classroom & Instructional Support ● Assist classroom teachers with instructional activities and daily classroom routines ● Support students individually or in small groups as directed by the teacher ● Help prepare instructional materials, resources, and supplies ● Assist with classroom organization, displays, and upkeep
Student Safety & Supervision ● Follow all school and Archdiocesan safety procedures ● Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, playgrounds, and other school areas as assigned ● Support a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment consistent with Catholic values
Professional Conduct & Collaboration ● Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all school and classroom matters ● Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and cooperation with staff, students, and families ● Communicate effectively with teachers and administration ● Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as directed by the Principal
General School Support ● Perform position‑related duties assigned by the Principal to support school operations ● Assist with arrival, dismissal, transitions, and school-wide events ● Support the overall mission and ministry of Catholic education
Position Requirements ● High school diploma or equivalent required ● Compliance with Archdiocese of Chicago Safe Environment policies (Virtus, background checks, mandated trainings) ● Commitment to and respect for the Catholic faith and the school's mission ● Ability to maintain confidentiality, work collaboratively, and support classroom routines

This position has an annualized salary range of $15.00 - $20.00. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
