Responsibilities:
1st Major Area of Responsibility – QA/QC Program Development and Implementation
• Collaborate with the Lead Practitioner/Quality Assurance Manager to develop and implement Food Safety, SQF fundamentals, and the Food Quality Plan across the facility.
• Maintain the post-implementation facility SQF system, ensuring its integrity through validation and verification.
• Coordinate and participate in special projects such as studies affecting food safety or product quality, trials of new products, process improvements and similar work.
• Collaborate with supervisors, managers, and department leaders, through pro-active and timely communication to:
• Identify, evaluate and resolve plant product safety and quality issues as they arise.
• Maintain and audit effective plant/sanitation programs
• Ensure proper equipment and plant sanitation through effective pre-operational inspections.
• Review HACCP and GMP principles with new and existing employees.
• Participate in SOP/SSOP development and maintenance, including annual reviews.
• Coordinate Product Quality Evaluations
2nd Major Area of Responsibility – Audit/ Inspection
• Assist in the coordination of a comprehensive plant audit program, including HACCP critical control points, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), plant housekeeping, sanitation (COP, CIP and manual cleaning), bio-security systems and compliance with federal and state inspection agency regulations.
• Maintain and audit glass and glass-like material monitoring program.
• Participate in and support Quality Assurance Manager in regulatory inspections and/or customer audits, including routine regulatory sampling of products and water supplies.
• Assist in the investigation and resolution of product contamination events.
• Assist with the investigation and resolution of customer complaints.
3rd Major Area of Responsibility – Food Safety and Quality Training
• Review the following topics with new and existing employees:
• HACCP principles
• GMP principles
• Food Safety and Quality SOP's
Qualifications:
• Training or degree (B.S. ideal) in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related technical field, or combination of equivalent work experience required
• Minimum one (1) year QA/QC experience in a manufacturing environment under HACCP, USDA and/or FDA preferred
• Quality Auditor Certification preferred.
