HOURS Full time 10-month position (190 contract days). Contract Unit: This position is part of the Unit I (Certificated) bargaining unit. FLSA: Exempt Minimum Qualifications
• Must be eligible for a Maryland Athletic Trainer license
• Current NATABOC Certification
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification
• Knowledge of sports injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation
• Excellent communication, organizational, and meticulous record-keeping skills
Responsibilities Pre-Participation Responsibilities Coordinate with coaches and athletic director to ensure all student-athletes have a current physical examination and completed online medical history registration forms prior to participation. Injury Prevention & Care Administer first aid and emergency care to student-athletes during practices, contests, and within the athletic training facility. Supervise and apply protective devices such as pads, braces, and tape. Collaborate with coaches to implement conditioning, strength training, and flexibility programs. Provide initial care and appropriate referrals to allied healthcare professionals for athletic injuries. Rehabilitation & Return-to-Play Design and manage rehabilitation and reconditioning programs for injured athletes. Communicate athlete injury status and progress with coaches through verbal updates and written injury reports. Make recommendations for return-to-play decisions. Act as liaison between family physicians and specialists, the school district, athletes and their parents. Medical Coverage & Records Provide coverage at interscholastic home contests based on injury risk, event priority, and staff availability. Maintain accurate documentation of all injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation sessions. Communicate regularly with the school nurse regarding athlete injuries and follow-up care. Facility & Budget Management Manage the athletic training room operations, including budget development and supply requests, inventory control, and maintenance of therapeutic and medical equipment.
