BALD KNOB SCHOOL DISTRICT POSITION GUIDE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Position Title: Custodian Contract: 220 days Salary: Classified Salary Schedule Primary Function: Custodians are responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary, safe facility for students, staff, and the public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events; and minimizing property damage, loss, and liability exposure to the school district. ILLUSTRATION OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES: Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, classroom activities, and events Attends in-service training (e.g., instruction on blood-borne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures Cleans assigned school district facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, gyms, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, attractive environment Daily attendance and punctuality Delivers various items (e.g., supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to the appropriate parties Helps respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g., facility damage, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning physical and educational environment Inspects school district facilities for the purpose of ensuring the site is suitable for safe operations and maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and identifying any repairs that may be necessary due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc. Lifts up to 30 pounds unassisted for the purpose of lifting equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks Secures school district facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability to the school district Services job-related machinery/equipment (e.g., adjusting, cleaning, and oiling vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, buffers, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining equipment in good working condition. Also changes brushes, pads, rollers, etc. on equipment Adhere to the daily/weekly/monthly/summer expectations for the assigned areas
Special Assignments: Additional duties may be assigned as needed to promote the efficient and effective daily operations of the District. Organizational Relationships: Custodians will answer directly to the Director of Facilities and respond to reasonable requests made by the lead cusotidan, building principals and Superintendent. Position Holder Qualifications: Qualifications will be determined by the Superintendent and Board of Education and assignments will be dependent upon the skills of the employee. Employee Evaluation: Custodians will be evaluated by the Director of Facilities. The evaluation process will fulfill all requirements by State law, and District policy.
