Vocational Assistant - Culinary Timken Career Campus 6 hours per day - Step 1 Hourly Rate $18.95 Reports to: BUILDING PRINCIPAL / CTE DIRECTOR VOCATIONAL ASSISTANT - Culinary Days: 191 Reports to: BUILDING PRINCIPAL / CTE DIRECTOR Required:

• High school diploma or GED required

• Educational Aide Permit

• Van Driver certification within the 1st semester of being hired

• Previous experience working with students

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds

• Bend, reach, and move throughout kitchen and dining environments

• Maintain clean and organized kitchen and dining area

• Confidentiality

• Honesty

• Cooperate and get along with others

• Work as a member of a team

Desirable:

• Experience in restaurant operations, commercial kitchen environments, catering, food service or hospitality

• Experience in point-of-sale (POS) systems

Responsibilities: The responsibilities of a Culinary Vocational Assistant include, but are not limited to, the following

• Reinforce and supervise student training both in the classroom and the culinary kitchen/restaurant

• Manage the daily front of the house operations for the student run restaurant, the All City Grille

• Instruct and manage student teams rotating through front of the house restaurant positions. These positions include servers, hosts, bussers, expos and front counter/carryout teams

• Instruct and manage students on using Point of Sale systems for customer orders

• Reinforce and supervise students on non-restaurant days in the kitchen/lab

• Model and enforce high standards of professionalism and appropriate behavior for students when interacting with the public, students, staff and administrators.

• Assure strict adherence to safety, sanitation, and health department standards, including proper food handling, storage and equipment use

• Serve as a role model for business ethics and workplace honesty, actively mentoring students on the importance of inventory integrity and preventing the shrinkage or unauthorized gifting of program assets

• Foster a positive and supportive learning environment by mentoring, motivating, and encouraging students as they develop culinary, employability and workplace skills

• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability while collaborating effectively with instructional staff to support student success and provide high-quality customer service within the student-run restaurant environment

• Conducts individualized and/or group activities with students as directed by the certified teacher

• Maintains records as directed

• Assists in care, maintenance and ordering of classroom equipment and materials

• Understands and maintains the academic and behavioral standards set for the students by the certified teacher

• Assists with the clerical duties as assigned by the certified teacher

• Drivers license required. Be able to drive and pick up CTE supplies on a weekly basis, if needed

• Assist students in the CTE Classes during lab activities if applicable

• Performs other duties as assigned
