JOB PURPOSE: To provide instructional leadership , community engagement and overall management of a K-12 School. QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess an Alaska Type A Teaching License with 5 years of successful teaching experience Must possess an Alaska Type B Administrative License GENERAL DUTIES:
• Directs the planning, supervision, development, and evaluation of personnel and school operation.
• Provides leadership in improving instruction and increasing the quality of education.
• Directs the work of all certified and support employees within the building
• Operates an effective student activities program
• Leads the work of ensuring student academic success
• Facilitates the development and sustainability of a healthy school climate and student behavior system
• Oversees the general operation of all school facilities and teacher housing.
• Lease school team to develop, implement and evaluate school improvement efforts
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
• Administers the school in conformity with the policies of the Board of Education statues of the State of Alaska, and rules and regulations of the State Board of Education.
• Has the responsibility for planning and coordinating all phases of the school program.
• Works with the staff and administration to formulate general school policies.
• Promotes good public relations in order to further the community's understanding and support of the education program.
• Assists in selection, retention, and promotion of certificated personnel, classified personnel, secretaries, and paraprofessionals as directed by the Superintendent.
• Makes provision for staff orientation, in service training, supervision and evaluation as directed by the Superintendent.
• Works with staff and administration to plan and promote the improvement of curriculum and student activities.
• Responsible for teacher assignments, classroom assignments, and the master schedule.
• Works closely with the District's Business Manager to organize a business like procedure to handle and control the school budget.
• Supervises and approves the purchase of textbooks, equipment, and instructional materials within the restraints of the school budget.
• Controls all inventories, requisitions, distribution. and accounting for supplies, textbooks, and equipment.
• Controls and supervises the maintenance of all current student records.
• Develops teacher handbooks, student handbooks, bulletin reports, and other publications that are necessary or requested by the Superintendent.
• Reports serious accidents, burglaries, and incidents of an unusual nature to the proper authorities according to District Policies.
• Prescribes written rules and regulations for the management of the school and its employees.
• Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings that are organized to promote clear communication and understanding between all levels of employees.
• Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.

• Requires ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements, Board of Education practices, Alaska State Laws, and Department of Education and Early Development regulations and Alaska Teacher Code of Ethics.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as curricula guides and materials and testing protocols. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before colleagues. Ability to speak Yupik beneficial. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply mathematical functions in routine classroom situations such as calculation of grades. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems in a professional manner. Computer Skills and Abilities: Requires knowledge and ability to operate a variety of software on computers. Experience with Mac platform, Powerschool, and email systems beneficial. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to develop effective working relationships with Board of Education, superintendent, colleagues, students and community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
